iOS app: display resolution?

sarkast   April 25th, 2012 4:57a.m.

First of all: the iOS app is awesome! I just started testing it with my iPhone 3GS and I just love it.
Now my question is: how much will the app benefit from a higher display resolution, such as of the iPod touch 4g or the iPhone 4? They have 960x640 pixels, whereas the 3gs has only 480x320 pixels. For both the screen´s actual size is 3.5 inches though.
Has anybody tested both and can share some experiences?
Thanks a lot!

Its exactly the same as the change from watching movies on VHS to DVD (and if you don't remember that, think DVD to BlueRay).

Unless you have the high res screen you'll be "I can see fine? What's the fuss about?". Once you own the high resolution screen for about 2 weeks every time you look at an old one you'll think "omg how did I ever live with that?".

For studying skritter it'll make no difference at all. The old screen is fine and its a waste of money to buy a new device just for that. The new screen is nicer to look at in every way, and once you have it you'll love it, but it certainly won't make your Chinese study go faster, or make you remember the words better :P

I'm really looking forward to being able to use Skritter away from my computer, because I'm pretty much restricted to only being able to use Skritter in my dorm room.

I hope that the app will be ready by mid June, because that's when I'm heading back to the States and I'll be away from everything Chinese for about 2 months.

Quick question about the app:
Will I be able to add new items with an Itouch without internet access?

icebear   April 25th, 2012 8:04a.m.

@Bohan - No. All items added at the time of last sync will be reviewable without a connection, but a connection is require to add new items.

We did make it easy to add a bunch of new items at a time, though, and the new words are spread out over the words you have to review, for when you'll want to learn new words while offline.
