New Poll?

timoak33   November 2nd, 2012 4:04p.m.

Hey guys how about on the home page having a poll on who uses what operating system i.e ios/android etc.

Would it not be interesting to see?
If I seen that 70% of people had apple products then I would shut up, but I believe the numbers of Android are growing more!
I am about to get the Samsung galaxy note 2, as it has the s pen which would be better to use than a finger on another device. I was considering buying an ipod touch purely for the skritter app but not going to now.

So what do you think?

We have run this poll a couple times; you can check it out in the old polls section. Might be worth putting up front again soon.

Unfortunately it would be a bit skewed as many Android users quit/never signed up due to lack of Android support. Interesting article claiming that Android now is in 75% of smartphones: http://news.yahoo.com/googles-android-software-3-4-smartphones-200645049--sector.html

@nick, Now a curious question. Were the polls accurate in comparison to the Google Analytics access data?

We first asked this question about mobile devices long before we had any mobile access, so yeah, the market shares were different then--and neither platform could really do anything on the site, so Analytics wouldn't have told us much then.

I use a stylus with my iPhone to Skritter. Seems I have seen a few posts lately implying that if one uses a mobile device then one has to use a finger to draw, and noting that it's inferior to, for example, using a Wacom tablet with a stylus. Maybe people are not aware of styluses that are widely available (got mine at the office supply store) and work universally (on any capacitive touch screen, I think.) I'm not quite sure what all the advantages are of Samsung's S Pen, but its certainly not the only way to use Skritter with a "pen" on a mobile device.
