So we've been talking today about whether we should include a recurring monthly billing option for people. On our pricing page we have that option listed, but we've been debating whether we actually need it.
Here's how we envision the monthly billing option working: let people use the monthly recurring billing but suggest that people who remain on the monthly plan for more than two or three months switch to a prepaid plan (to save them cash). At the same time, monitor account usage and stop billing people who don't actually practice in a given month. On the one hand, we are thinking that a monthly plan might be helpful for people who just want to give Skritter a try or don't have the cash to pay for 6 months or a year at once. Additionally, it might encourage people to stick with their Chinese practicing.
The primary argument against a monthly autobilling system is that it may be inconvenient to be billed by default. One suggestion was to just make the $11/mo option not have autobilling, so if you want to keep adding characters after the month you have to pay for more time.
So we wanted to know what users think: do you guys want the monthly option? Would you like it to be run differently?
