two or more vocab list with overlapping words

WanLi   December 10th, 2010 2:41p.m.

Are the statistics still good if i use two or more lists (HSK1,HSK2,HSK3) with Chinese Made Easier. i know there will be several overlap characters in general, do not know how they will be treated in the overlist? what is the best way to do this?

if i would like to nuke my list! what should i do, and i still would like to keep the stats, and progress report.

kind regards

Walid

You can study as many lists as you like and any overlapping character / word will only be counted once. If you e.g. first study old HSK1 and then the new HSK1 you can see in the list that the words you already know / study are marked. If you use Alfa features and open up any such word in the pop up you can even see in what lists that word is in.

If you nuke your stats, progress will be wiped to.

Yep Mandarinboy's got it right. One clarification though:

You can nuke everything, using the delete all page, which will remove all lists, words, and progress, or you can remove just the list from your studies. Your progress will NOT be lost if you remove a list. Those words will simply not show up anymore when you practice, unless they were added from another list.

There used to be two options when you deleted lists (as far as i can remember): 1. delete list from study and 2. delete words. Now there is only 1.

I just want to not have to have the list since i have studied the words but at the same time keep studying them (if that makes sense :S).

I don't want to get rid of them nor stop studying them. I think it was clearer before...

I deleted the two lists, and there was still some words in mywords "582 words and 814 characters in 0 lists"
deleted these words too, however in the my words page still reports 582 words and 814 characters in 0 lists.
I guess it is a bug, i am an alpha tester. so i guess when you delete the word status does not get updated in the my words page

Yes, there were two. The first one, deleting the list from study, just made it so that it wasn't visible in the study nav anymore; there wasn't really any change in the backend. So in order to simplify we got rid of that.

If you don't want to add anymore words from a list, you can set it to reviewing (if using the alpha features), or pause it from the practice page (if not), and it will effectively be the same as what you could do before. We'd rather keep the study nav showing all lists you're currently studying words from when you click the Everything button, so that you always have the complete list.

Hmm, yeah those numbers are lifted directly from the progress page and when you remove lists, it doesn't remove the progress you made on those words. Perhaps we'll just get rid of that 'in x lists' part of the wording so as not to confuse when lists are deleted.
