adding back words to "my words"

JanVanderdam   March 21st, 2011 1:59p.m.

I removed a number of words from "my words" but now the system won't let me add them back using the text book list. Any hints?

I checked your account and looks like no lists are currently enabled. You'll need to go to the list you want to study and click the big green 'Study List' button, then choose which section you want to start at. All lists you're studying will show up here:

Thanks for the reply post Scott. I enabled the list and the auto-add feature put 577 words into my "due" list. I took some time off of Skritter and now I want to start over but I don't want to erase all my mnemonics stories so I am afraid of the nuke feature. But I really just want to add the list one chapter at a time to review the characters I have forgotten in the order they're introduced in the book (I'm doing Heisig's RTK and I was up to 950). Can I restart from scratch or limit the number of characters dumped into my due list without losing my stories? Adding stories is very time consuming and I really don't want to do that over again.

I think I figured this out. I erased all of "my words" chapter by chapter, added the list starting on chapter 1 and used the "skip" feature in the "edit study settings" to skip all the chapters except the beginning ones that I am reviewing. I will "un-skip" more chapters as I feel ready for them. Thanks!

It seems my plan doesn't work. although I have "skipped" all the lessons I'm not reviewing, the system keeps on trying to add and then finally adds from lesson 56 even though I have it skipped. Is there no way to review the lessons in order after a long time off without have to nuke them? and If I nuke my old lessons will I lose my stories?

I sent this in an email, too:

You probably want to cram each chapter in turn, so that you can review them all in order. To do this, click through to the first section, scroll down past its words, and click the "Study Section" at the bottom. When you're satisfied with this, then do Chapter 2, and so on.

I think this will be much more efficient than nuking. Hope this helps!
