Hi

I'm using skritter now for a few days, I realy like it. Does someone knows if there is any change that skritter is making a Iphone app? I realy like to do this on the go. That would be so great.

Thx Sander

Not for the immediate future I'm afraid! We actually originally envisioned Skritter being for smartphones before we decided to build a website instead. But at this point we just don't have the resources to make an iphone app. However, Nick and I have iphones and we both want it really badly, so it's probably only a matter of time ;)

It's a sensible request but it's also a good approach to wait. Eventually Flash will be supported on smartphnes (I think there is one that does now but very slowly) and the problem will solve itself. If it were a big barrier to adoption before that then it would make sense but somehow I don't see it as a big barrier (practice is best done in a quite place - not on the road and if you've used the Chinese input on the iPhone much it can start to hurt your fingers from the rubbing of the screen after a while). Just my 2cents.

What about the HTC Hero? Any word yet on if this will run the flash smooth enough to bring the dream of mobile learning awesomeness into reality? I'm at a shop (in china) now and i'm so happy that they can get a Hero for me. Im just gonna wait until next month so the price can cool off a bit.

I'm not sure. I can't find detailed specs on which Flash they're putting on the Hero, but one commenter hinted that it does not yet support Flash written in ActionScript 3. One Adobe dev said that they're hoping to have the full Flash 10 running soon, though, which would do the trick. Not sure if he meant soon as in "on some devices coming soon" or "Hero will get it soon."

It is very probable that we can make it run fast enough by stripping down certain frills, if there is full Flash 10 support.

From what I have read, the HTC Hero's flash engine is really slow. Soon enough though mobile web browsers will be handle rich content - Moore's law just needs to churn a couple more times.
