Beyond the Basics

The Beyond the Basics textbook on this site is the first edition. I'm currently using the second edition at my university. I found out the hard way and think you should make it a little more clear. The vocab in the second edition is very different from the first edition.

Darn! Sorry about that. I've noted that in the textbook description.

I'm not sure how similar the words are, but perhaps you could remix (in the advanced tab of the list) the list and make some corrections? Then we could get an up-to-date copy. If you're interested, that is.

Well, I will probably be making all the flashcards for Anki (excluding supplemental) and would be more than happy to give it to you.

Actually, I'm not too sure on what type of format would be needed. Would I be able to import from Anki?

Can you post an example entry from Anki's export?

I just tested exporting cards from Anki for a bit using the cards and facts in tab separated file formatting; I don't think there's any simple way to go from Anki to Skritter. Facts appear to be formatted differently depending on the deck. The best thing to feed our system (either when adding to the queue or creating a list) is

[writing][tab][reading][tab][definition]

Both for Japanese and Chinese. Sometimes Anki will output something like this for which importing should mostly work, but sometimes Anki will export something like this:

あに兄[sound:bb302f90f8d460dcd53de32255dcb906.mp3] (my) older brother

And our system won't know how to parse that. Would have to look at it more to consider if there are any shortcuts... but for now if you can figure out a way to export your deck so it either makes a file with just the writings and nothing else, or in the format I outlined above, that would be the way to transfer.
