Tiny Feature Suggestion

itaju   May 13th, 2013 5:17p.m.

I hope some other Skritterers feel the same as I do.

I have a simple feature suggestion and I'd love to hear your opinion on this.

Whenever a new item is shown up, i'd like to see a little symbol somewhere on the right side if I have known it (or not) when I was asked it the last time.

I think it would have a psychological impact on how I approach it. I would feel more confident on reviewing if I knew that item before or I'd be more careful if it was wrong the last time I stumbled upon it. It would say "dude, this is an item you have problems with, focus and do it right this time!"

You could even add the streak you are on right now like "Item known correct for 5 times in a row". I think it would feel really good to review some old characters and find out that you just passed the 10th time in a row answering correct.

What do you think about it? Is it necessary? I hope it would be easy to add to the code and it should be optional for people who don't like it.

I think that's a great idea. Sometimes I'm flying through the words and a helpful reminder like this to slow down when I encounter harder words.

I think it'd be pretty cool to be able to see how many times in a row I've gotten words right or wrong~

I wouldn't want this to be in without being an option. I use another app that has this feature (showing how well I know rhe character before I answer) as an option, and I leave it switched off. It seems like an extra hint that shouldn't be necessary if you know the character/word.

It sounds like the use case you're talking about (noticing when a word comes up that you sometimes have troubles with) would be what the leech notification is designed to do (once I get it tuned). Basically, it pops up in the Flash area and says, "This writing leech score: 62%" and then you know, whoa, think about what you want to do with this one. It doesn't shown anything for items under a certain leechness threshold.

What do you think? We don't actually store the info very accessibly for how many times in a row you've gotten or missed an item, so we wouldn't be able to show that, just the last correct/wrong. But I think the leech notification is more useful.

I think a leech notification would be useful.

A way to view all of one's leeches would also be nice, but I imagine that's more difficult to implement.
