"Your account is active only until Saturday"

"Your account is active only until Saturday, February 1. You can go to the account page to purchase a subscription."

Is this as serious as it sounds?
What exactly does it mean? Is it about more than just the ability to add characters/words?

Thanks.

You cannot add new words without an active subscription. Everything else works fine. You can purchase a subscription when you're ready to add new words.

It also means your 10,000 coolies are going to revolt if you don't renew.

I was just wondering because not being able to add words is my current status (and has been for a couple of years). So what's changing on Feb 1? The wording sounds a bit apocalyptic to me ...

It sounds like you can actually add words now. It's a reminder to urge you to hurry up and adds a few thousands before the deadline.

pts, that's like drinking from a firehouse.

Yes, what you describe is correct for the ordinary people. But, if you are here long enough, you'll know that this Mr. Foo can actually manage much more than that.
