OT - Aus itunes store doesn't have pleco ipod app?

Aurora   March 27th, 2011 1:45a.m.

Hi there,

I finally made a decision and bought an ipod today, I just went to download the Pleco dictionary but the Australian itunes store only has the iphone and ipad downloads - not ipod...

I have emailed pleco, but thought you knowledgable people here may know - has anyone else downloaded Pleco for ipod in Australia?

Cheers!
Donna

I just checked with iTunes (I'm also in Aus) and requirements for Pleco state it's compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, so I'm guessing you should be fine to download it. Besides, it's a free app, so u have nothing to lose.

Are there any difference between the Ipod and Iphone app? The basic app is the same and then you can buy add ons to use e.g. the OCR function that uses the camera in Iphone. I did only buy one Pleco app but that is then installed on both my Ipad and my Ipod. This is from the Swedish store but that should not be any difference for you either.

Hey thanks Ekrem, it does say that further down in the requirements - I worried for a moment because there were only the 2 icons for ipad and iphone!

I have been using Pleco on an iPod Touch (mine is the previous generation to the current one) for over a year now with no problem. As far as I know iPod Touch is completely identical to iPhone, and therefore should work with any iPhone compatible app, with the exception of apps that involve telephone functions, such as Skype. For that you would need to add an external microphone to your iPod, and a Wi-Fi connection, at least on the older one. I don't know if the new one includes a mike or not.

PS: I am in the US. I am running the most recent version of Pleco. I notice that in the iTunes store here it says "Comptible with iPhone, and iPod Touch, iPad. Requires iOS 3.0 or later."
