a lot of characters ''not found''

a lot of characters ''not found'   December 8th, 2009 5:38p.m.

a lot of characters I put in when I made a study list were "not found". Is this because there's a new software/program that is adjusting? Because it seems like a lot of the characters I put in were "not found"

the interface actually shows "not in database", not "not found".

A few specific instances are: 籲yu4, and 受害。

The database has the simplified version of 籲 but not the original. In the case of 受害 , Skritter allows these characters to come up, but only if they are input one by one. So I had to add them as 受, and then 害.

籲 we have as a traditional variant of 吁 (where 吁 can also be its own traditional). I'm seeing 籲 come up by itself okay. Were you putting it in another word?

For 受害, that word had been recently created but it hadn't been given a pinyin yet, so it was unavailable until our word editing caught up with it. Most missing words will be available for you to create entirely, but this type are unfortunately waiting on us.

I'm confused. Why is the original poster's user name the same as the title of the forum?

... not to mention the fact that the avatar is a new, random image with every page impression.

Possibly as he's a guest?   December 9th, 2009 4:55a.m.

If you log out your Skritter account you can post as a guest :o.

Bizarre. I would have thought it would say "guest" in that case.

nick   December 9th, 2009 8:41a.m.

Nah, guests get to pick their nick. They also get assigned a random avatar, but we don't save which one it is per guest, so it randoms each page load.

You know it's good.
