Any news on how Skritter is (not) working Microsoft Surface?

I haven't been able to try it out on one yet to see what the problem is. Can you describe more about what you're seeing?

I did submit us for the compatibility view list to enable use of Flash there, but I'm not sure if that happened yet.

On the desktop browser, strokes don't register with touch input, but work with a mouse drag. Same experience on the tile world browser but the stroke draws about 1/2 a canvas above where it should.

This implies that the flash compat view list entry is in place, but that there is an error in the rendering code. It's possible that it's in flash, but it's also possibly in your code. Does flash distinguish between a touch swipe and a mouse drag? If so, maybe you're monitoring for the latter event and not the former...

There is a Microsoft Store in Beachwood Place on the east side of Cleveland :) And I might be able to advise a bit on a native Windows 8 port if you're interested. I expect there will be a ton of Windows 8 devices out there.

你好, i apologize for adding onto this thread from November, but thought it was better to "me to" on this than to create a new thread :)

I have a new Surface RT tablet (Windows RT), it's a fantastic experience, but the touch experience for Skritter is broken. I'm guessing it's the Flash interface with the browser is not recognizing touch events.

I'm hoping, praying, i can finally leverage Skritter as part of my Chinese learning now that i have a tablet. :)

谢谢

Andy, just as a curiosity: if you use this URL instead on your Surface, does the touch handling work any better?

http://www.skritter.com/study/all?android=true&resolution_width=1024

(That should make it use a different method of tracking touch input. If it works, we can try making a switcharound in the normal input handling code for these devices.)

It worked! I like it, the interface is intuitive, the touch and screen feedback are responsive. Thanks Nick.

I'm a software tester, so if there's more i should look at to give feedback here, please let me know. In the meantime I'll ad hoc test it :)

Aha! Great--Andy, can you let me know your User Agent string on your Surface?

From my Surface it is:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; ARM; Trident/6.0; Touch)
