Please would you at Skritter consider adding a word list for GCSE chinese and A level chinese. I am currently sitting my AS level Chinese, and i am using the HSK vocabulary with custom additions from my textbook added by me at intervals, but it would be very useful to provide the word list as published by the exam board (edexcel)for download into skritter and then i would know i was going to cover all the vocab i need for my exams.

If you have a copy of the syllabus you can always make a list of it yourself. Go to vocab lists --> Made by me --> New list. You can copy and paste the words in from the pdf.

(PS. Does nobody else think 'make a list' should be at the top of the vocab lists page?)

@Byzanti, I agree, there should be a fancy button or something at the top of the vocab lists page. Right now the link to create a new list looks identical to the links to select a category and already created list.

But will this “make a list” feature scare away some potential customers? It makes it clear that one has to make his own lists, define the words, translate the meanings from English into his native language and even find pictures depicting the words. When a student goes to school, he would expect all of these to be provided by the school but not by him.

pts, I was just suggesting making the current 'new list' option more visible. I'm sure they can phrase it nicely ("or... make your own!"). And I think you're slightly exaggerating the difficulty. Generally, it's just a case of copy and pasting the words in, and for the odd word that Skritter doesn't have, adding a definition.

For something like the original poster mentioned, it would be pretty easy and quick to do.

Yes, making the 'new list' option more visible is an excellent idea. I just hope that most of the contents will be already available and one will have to supply one’s own study materials only in rare cases. Putting the option at the top of the page seems to suggest that the first thing to do after paying the subscription is to create one’s own lists.

elfninja, the list below should be helpful to you. To find it search for "edexcel" amongst the published lists:

Edexcel GCSE simplified
Made by: rahim
Published: April 21st
exam gcse +
The vocabulary list from Appendix 5a of Edexcel's GCSE specification. (GCSE is a UK high school exam.)

I have published a list called "Edexcel Chinese for AS" which contains all of the vocabulary from the chapters of that course book.

I hope it will be of help to those studying for AS in the future!
