Features I need in Skritter

Hi, everyone (especially the forum owners).

I have two suggestions for inproving the product:
1/ The ability to write the same character several times in a row (i.e. 3 and/or 5 times). I think it will accelerate memorizing than just writing them one by one.

2/ When we need to go for a trip, we cannot sometimes take Skriter with us. So, we need to be able to print out some kind of 田格本. This way we could practice our lists in trains, planes etc.

It's probably not the way you imagined, but I remember from awhile back users said the would erase the character to practice writing in multiple times.

As a work around for the second one you could always try exporting some of your words from Skritter. Then you could create things to print out on your own or use another application to do this.

Get a GALAXY Tab or equivalent (or wait for the iPod version) for when you are on the go.

I am not sure repeatedly writing the same character fits in with the SRS methodology that this site is using. The idea is that the site should only make you try and remember/practice things as often as you need to remember. You are supposed to trust the SRS "algorithm" to show you each word/character often enough that you can remember it.

That said, you could just have a piece of paper next to your computer and write it out a few times (:

Or just hit erase or X a couple of times ;)

I also use the eraser button if I need a chance to run over a character another time or two. Rather rare occurrence though.

Erasing and rewriting should cover 1, yes. I think if you take SRS to the extreme, rewriting it a couple times still fits in. You want to at least rewrite it until you can do the entire character from start to finish without hitting the 'show' button. Then if you want to give it an extra kick, wait a few seconds or let your mind drift for just a moment, then write it again before moving on.

And yes, you can export your words from the My Words page, on the left side. Choose 'next' sort order and put out as many words as you want to go over. Put the words into excel or some other spreadsheet program if you want to format it better. Also, if you know you're going to be gone for a little while, stop adding new words a few days before, and study ahead of schedule. You'll still probably have a bunch to get to when you return but it won't be as large.

Hey Sergey,

I had this need at the beginning too. Once you pickup more characters the radicals and characer parts repeat themselves and you learn even new characters faster and with less repetitions.
I also go with the erase function until I can write the character.
It was also helpful for me to increase the retention rate to 97% which led to higher repetition rates and thus helped me to pick up new characters more easily.

Hope that helps,
Alex
