Leeches

I think I just saw a leech of 100.5% ??? Is that possible? Ughhh yes I completely suck at writing that word...

nick   November 6th, 2011 11:54a.m.

Oops! No, it shouldn't really be possible. Which word is it?

InkCube   November 6th, 2011 12:49p.m.

Speaking of leeches, would it maybe be possible to see a words leech score in the popup details?

Right now the score shows up nicely discreet, but I sometimes find myself wanting to check the score of a specific word after I wrote it (and mybe missed the score at the beginning) and there is no way to check.

inkubus, that's a good idea. We'll probably do all sorts of stuff with the leech score later, when it's actually solid, but it's kind of on hold for now while it's still not very good.

*hangs head in shame*

耶稣基督

Yes, that's a very hard one. You probably don't want to just ban it in this case. Have you tried coming up with a radical-by-radical mnemonic? That is, you'd make a story for the word including every single radical in the word, from left to right, and whenever writing the word, you'd just write the radicals in the order from your mnemonic.

I see there's already one word-level mnemonic that could be used for this one, but it doesn't help if the individual characters are confusing:

_Jesus Christ_ *revives* and is the *foundation* of *supervision*

I remember the second character of Jesus because it's made up of 'fish' and 'grain'(=bread) - exactly what he fed to the people ;)

You could also just ban this one and instead add 耶稣 and 基督教 separately.
I've found it helpful in the past to tackle longer phrases one word at a time.

[Sorry for the double post. I keep forgetting we can edit now :P]

I don't plan to ban it - I *WILL* learn it. The mnemonics are helpful but I think I might need to go one step further on this one - time for one of my 汉子 character collages!

Like this one I made for Halloween:
