Anyone know of any good lists of computer networking terms ?

General and cisco specific if possible. Also covering optical networking (can hope ;-) )

Problem is some of the English translations seem a bit fuzzy/not definite enough
e.g


网关 wǎng guān network router; gateway

All gateways are routers but not all routers are gateways.

For the actual device, I know 路由器 is a router and 无线路由器 is a wireless router. So I think the best translation of 网关 would be gateway.

Not really a list, but my two cents on your example haha.

Edit: Many networking terms just have universal acryonms and I don't hear people using the actual Chinese words. For example, 网际协议, but people here would just say IP. They will also mix and match, for example IP地址.

This might be a good time to use the collaborative features of list making. If you want to make a list, you can assign other users as editors and then link them to the list. Then you all can add words to it and receive each others' updates. I don't think that feature has been used much since it was implemented, unfortunately.

Thanks Scott, when I get time I'll do that for my previous lists if anyone is interested in electronics/embedded systems terms and archery terms.

Just a suggestion - you might want to look online for the website of a course in computer networking at a Chinese university. Probably a lot of standard (in use) vocab there.

Also, keep in mind that most Wikipedia pages have Chinese language counterparts - look on the left side of the page where there is a list of languages.

For microcontrollers microchip provides all their docs in Chinese
and their whole website in Chinese
