Skritter Vacations, how is that working?

Mandarinboy   October 15th, 2011 10:55p.m.

I could not post on the Blog site, the 3 dots just keep on running preventing any input. Anyway, Even though I probably never will use this I am curious how it works. If I recall it correctly, when you stop being an subscriber you can still keep on practicing but you can't add new content. Is this how it works when you are in vacation mode as well? You can still practice but you do not get charged and you can not add content.

Not exactly. You can use the site in general, when on vacation, except for the study page. If you try to go and study, you're offered to reactivate the account and continue studying (which you can also do from the account page). To study without paying or adding words, you'll have to unsubscribe.

How do you switch your account to vacation mode? I can't find the link anywhere. Im unlikely to use skritter at all until the iphone app comes out.

It's on this page listed below between 'change credit card' and 'prepay' in the billing area.

There are no "Change credit card" and "prepay" links on that page.

balsa   October 16th, 2011 12:00p.m.

I can't find the link either.

nick   October 16th, 2011 3:01p.m.

Vacation mode is currently set up for when you have an active subscription (with recurring billing) and you want to pause that. We haven't set it up for those using the prepay system, although Scott was talking about doing something with that. So the link won't show up without a recurring subscription.

balsa   October 17th, 2011 4:24a.m.

yikes, that's too bad, I was glad to see option available since I'll be away for the rest of this week.

it would be good too to update the help/faq information about that.

nick   October 17th, 2011 9:58a.m.

Good point; it's on the to-do list.

scott   October 17th, 2011 5:25p.m.

If you need to go on vacation but you've gone the prepay route, just let us know and we can credit your account some extra time manually. Balsa, how many days does that come to that you won't be using Skritter?
