Example sentence pronunciations don't match

Kai Carver   August 6th, 2012 8:02a.m.

Hi,

Many of the pronunciations for example sentences are wrong, that is, they do not match the sentence.

For example:
http://www.skritter.com/scratchpad?word=她
The default example sentence is
她向我眨眼
but clicking on the speaker produces something like:
"Ta budong shifei"

This one started happening a week ago, and we're in touch with the example sentence provider, Tingwo, to see if we can debug this. Hopefully we'll find the cause of this issue more easily than the last one, which took much heroic effort on their part.

People desperate to hear Chinese can always use the Google text-to-speech feature, which is getting eerily good! (at least it sounds good to me, but then again Chinese often sounds a little robotic to me).

Nick, please try the workaround I just sent you.

Temporary workaround is in--are you guys still seeing this?

Kai Carver   August 8th, 2012 12:23p.m.

first word I tried, audio matched example sentence.

second word I tried, audio did not match, it played again the audio for the first time I tried!

third word it was ok again (in the meantime I had refreshed the page).

and ever since it's been fine, so I think it's fixed, thank you!

Kai Carver   August 8th, 2012 12:26p.m.

oops, it just played the audio for the previous one again. But the following examples are fine.

Kai Carver   August 8th, 2012 12:35p.m.

and then I got a mismatch with the audio coming from some other word I don't think I've seen recently.

So it's not perfect, but it's been working 90% of the time on the last 50 words or so.

Kai Carver   August 8th, 2012 12:51p.m.

now it seems to be working well 100% of the time.

UPDATE: no, just got a wrong one. I'll stop testing now and just say it's working pretty well but not quite perfect :-)

junglegirl   August 10th, 2012 7:04a.m.

It's still not working for me :-(
