personal notes option next to items under study

I have a DVD textbook that allows me to make notes on each 'page' if I want. I'm not sure where these notes save to, but they go onto the computer. Would this be a possibility for each character?

nice feature, that means i can take my laptop with me and use skrtitter in class if i do have a character search option within skritter to check out my notes

Saving character-specific notes will be doable with the user mnemonics feature that we have planned. They'll be either private or shared. We're going to put it under the character prompt area. It will be sweet. We're going to do this big vocab list system overhaul first, though.

By the way, do people need word-specific notes, or are character-specific notes enough?

Character-specific notes capability would be great.

I keep a Numbers file (Apple for something like Excel) running beside Skritter most of the time to enter notes about each new character, so it would be nice to be able to eliminate or minimize my use of that.

Not quite sure word-specific is nearly as important, though I suppose it might end up being useful.

Word specific notes are an absolute must!!! A lot of times a pre-loaded word definition doesn't have as much info as I'd like. It would be great to be able to include notes on a word's usage, parts of speech, context, connotation, etc.

Whootie   January 23rd, 2010 12:16a.m.

I was thinking of word specific but I suppose both? At least I would like to add extra (English) meanings and etymology breakdown, which means character segments. Then if you're adding your own study text, word specific is great because you can add own text.

sonorier   January 23rd, 2010 12:50a.m.

word specific is also necessary, because meaning is not enough to know the usage, I want to put some notes about where I heard it or sentence examples.

I'm mainly still interested in it showing the breakup of the character by radical:)
Will that be possible with that patch?

nick   January 23rd, 2010 9:57a.m.

They are two separate but related features. The character decomposition will hopefully come soon after the mnemonics, because having the decomposition there will make mnemonics more similar and so much easier to come up with.

I made a Google Chrome plugin for this some time ago. Use it myself for Heisig keywords, but it could contain anything. No fancy update support though, which would make it very tedious to use for taking notes... The data is just in plain text in the script file.

Anyway, if interested here's the thread: http://www.skritter.com/forum/topic?id=17981591&comments=7

This will be pretty obsolete when the mnemonics feature arrives, but in the meantime pretty useful.
