Quite a few traditional Chinese example sentences use 瞭 where 了 should be used.

For example: 我的筆丟瞭。

No problem. Evan has been pestering me about this for a while. High on my list for sentence improvements is to create a script that can fix this up, as well as the pronunciation problems for 了 and 的, 地, and 得.

If you can fix the logic for for 的地得 then you're doing a hell of a lot better than Google Translate! (Which for Chinese is a bit of a low bar but hey... take the wins where you can get them!)

(OT: I still have trouble with 得／地 and am dropping lots of cloze deletion sentences into Anki to try to just brute force this intuition into my brain.)

Hah, well, the script will be something like, "Evan, here are all the important sentences with common, ambiguously read characters. What should the reading be for ? Press 2 for de2, 3 for dei3, 5 for de5."

I did not know these Chinese names of the 3 de:
的 = báisháo de -- 白 (bái) and 勺 (sháo)
地 = tǔyě de -- 土 (tǔ) and 也 (yě)
得 = shuāngrén de -- 彳known as shuāngrén (‘double person’).

changing example sentences doesn't work:
in the web version of Skritter, if I select a new example sentence, the next time I see the word, it shows the original example sentence.

For the problem with example sentences caching, is this within the same page load, the same day, or across days?

The problem with example sentences occurs on the same day and across days.

It registers my change insofar as, if I go to the next item and then go back, I see the sentence I selected.

But later on in the study session, it doesn't remember it.

And in fact I think it doesn't register anything, because if I click on the info window for the character after I set the example sentence, it shows the old example sentence.

Another possible indication there's something wrong is, when I go to change the example sentence, the current example sentence is not checked. All checkboxes are unchecked. I'd expect the current example sentence to be checked.

The current example sentence checkbox won't be checked if it's the default top sentence chosen for you, only if you have saved one. If the sentence doesn't show up the next day either, then it's not a caching problem, but a problem where the sentence choice is failing to save entirely. Can you give me some example sentences you tried to pick (with their corresponding words) so I can check them out? I assume this is not working for every sentence you try to choose.
