Practical Audio Visual Chinese textbook series

Are their plans to add this line of textbooks to Skritter? It's pretty much the standard textbook for Chinese learners here in Taiwan.

Would like to know before I spend the time to dump my entire textbooks vocab in a custom list. :P

I see a source for that; I'll upload it with the other twelve that I'll be starting in a few days.

That's really helpful, thanks. All I could find currently were some sketchy personal vocab dumps on the internet (many english definition spelling mistkaes and more than a few omissions) and 1st edition lists (when the series is currently on it's 2nd revision).

Of course I hit the post button before realizing I misspelled mistakes and its...

Oh; the lists I found were here:
http://www.zhongwiki.com/Studying/ZDTWordLists

Not sure if those are 1st- or 2nd-edition lists, though.

krapht   July 7th, 2009 5:19p.m.

1st edition, unfortunately. The 2nd edition just recently came out this past year, so vocab lists are lacking a bit.

I've personally been using the lists at:

http://www.snigel.nu/?p=985

However, like I said, the English definitions are misspelled every so often and I run across one or two missing vocab items every chapter. Also, this guy has only written out the words from the first 3 out of 5 PAVC books.

Ach. :/

nick   July 8th, 2009 3:55p.m.

Don't really need English definitions for most words, so misspellings aren't a problem. Missing vocab are unfortunate. It would be great to support these textbooks, though.

We won't be able to get the books, add missing entries, and upload the lists any time soon, but if you wanted, you could reference your books and do a bit of cleaning on Olle's lists.

I'm happy to hear that someone has found use for my vocabulary lists. Misspelling is of course unfortunate, but I don't consider the English spelling very important (I mean, we're studying Chinese, not English?). However, missing vocabulary is very bad and I would be delighted if you could point out where it's missing and I'll take a look at it and update the lists immediately.

I have book four ready and it will come online shortly. Book five will take a bit longer, because I'm only halfway through myself. From book four and onwards, the definitions should be from the book almost verbatim (for book one and two, I used a dictionary without much care for accuracy).

Cheers,

Olle

Although I don't use Skritter anymore, I just want to post to say that you guys should definitely upload Olle's lists as is. I don't quite remember what vocab was missing but it was mostly just supplementary vocab that was inconsistently included in the food chapter in book 3. There was 1-2 "real" vocab item missing in some chapter or another, but i forget where, and one or two missing vocab items aren't a big deal. Anyway, anything missed can be remixed or fixed later. After working through the lists on the bus on the way to Shida for book 3, I found it very helpful.

Thanks Olle!

We'll put those on the list for textbooks to process, then. Thanks!
