Add word now option?

Lawnmower16   June 29th, 2011 3:23p.m.

Have you guys ever thought about putting an option right on the study page to add a word and throw it right to the front of the queue immediately? I'm a really, how should I put this, 'ADD' type of person, so I tend to switch around tabs while Skrittering, and sometimes I'll find a word on a website I'm reading and think, "wow, I can't believe I don't know this word," and then I will go put it into a list that's almost finished so that I can study it promptly. I just think it would be especially nice if I didn't have to navigate to the vocab lists section, and find an appropriate list to put it in. I like to think I'm not completely alone in this thinking.

In short, how about a text box/drop down menu on the study page to start studying a new word NOW? That would be awesome.

I agree that this would be a nice feature that could be appreciated by many.

I'd like that too! I think it would help with the impulsive studying that is so often helpful in staying motivated..

Hmm; trying to think of ways to do this without overburdening the study page.

What if the bookmarklet / MDBG link gave you an option to add the word immediately to My Words, instead of just adding to the queue (or shortly, to the end of any of your lists)?

Lawnmower16   July 1st, 2011 5:25p.m.

That would be perfect. Because the same thing happens when I'm not doing skritter as well, so it would always be possible. I like the bookmarklet, but the only problem I have with it is that it throws everything at the end of my long, long queue list.

that'd work for me!

I'd rather not have the MDBG link made more cumbersome. Maybe make it add to the queue automatically as it does currently, but with a button on the page that opens up that allows it to be added right away instead?

+1 on Byzanti's suggestion

Sounds good to me too.
What I do for now is create a new vocab list every week and dump new words into it. Then you can opt to study it now and get all the words right away.

Scott's got a lot of glory cooking up with the list system changes he's working on. We'll see what we can do with the queue replacement to make this use case easier.

Somebody told me recently a way to cheat the system and do this....now what was it..... I know, put your word into the scratchpad with scheduling ON. Brilliant fix.

(Sorry, I forget who told me so I can't credit them)

Rachael.

Only problem with that method is you need at least like 3 words to do that.
