'Purge' Old Queue/Misc lists function?

clairehansell86   August 24th, 2011 8:53a.m.

The "Old Queue" and Miscellaneous lists are great, and I like the new quick add function for both those lists and the others. Just a question though - and I think its related to a question that someone else has already asked about 'noise' in their study lists. Is it possible for there to be a function to select all words in a specific list that have already been added from elsewhere, and delete them from that specific list?
I just think that the miscellaneous adding function is useful, but if you subsequently add words from a list, then they are more organized from that list, and if you want to have a quick view of the 'extra' words you've added then its much harder to do so by scanning the 'misc' list, and that some sort of 'purge' function might be helpful.

Another thing - is it possible to have an option after you've pressed 'study list' on the vocab list page to take you direct to the study page (as it does now) or leave you on the vocab list page? If you're looking through lists and deciding which ones look interesting, sometimes its good to stay on the same page rather than going via the study page.

Aside from that, great work on the new interface - particularly the word pop-up :) Thank!

Well, in a little while, once we've made it so that words which are already in My Words don't get re-added when you Quick Add by default (it'll ask you), you might be able to remove all of the Miscellaneous list and then add it back again, keeping only those ones which are unique to that list. But that might not quite work.

May I ask why you want to organize the extra words like that?

We decided that the first time you press "Study List", it should take you to the study nav page because it was a big source of confusion for new users what that did. I think that's been a rather successful part of the reorganization. Then again, you never know until you do user experience testing, so we're lining up another batch of that soon.

I guess because I personally quite like to see how much 'extra' i've done over e.g. the classroom textbooks. In the past i've added quite a lot of words to the queue from lists that i hadn't started studying yet (or didn't exist at that point), so there are a lot of duplicates in there. I'm going through and manually deleting at the moment, but it's just a bit time-consuming :) So I second the request from someone else for a 'delete words' option from the vocab list dropdown too :)
