Tell us who you really are!!!

DaXia   November 5th, 2011 5:48p.m.

YO!
Who am you? Who are I? Is this real life?

Anyways, I'm sure you all have 赞:ed the official skritter group on facebook, and if you haven't, then do it now dammit.

I'm very curious about who my fellow skritterers really are. I have 留:ed a 言 on the wall at the skritter fb page so you guys can see who I really am, and it would be great if some more brave people could follow my example by replying to that post with your fb profile, and writing your forum username.

So:
1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skritter/39198748555?ref=ts
2. Click on the wall.
3. Click on "Everyone (Most Recent)"
4. Find my post and reply to it.

We should probably just keep replying to that 1 post, so we dont spam up the group page with a lot of nonsense.

I hope this is ok with the admins, and I really really hope they will reveal themselves. ^^

Well, as a beginner here, still under 500 characters, I must admit I am intimidated by the number of strokes in your Chinese name!

jww1066   November 5th, 2011 6:56p.m.

@allisonting it's just the traditional version of the "dragon" radical, repeated.

FatDragon   November 5th, 2011 10:25p.m.

Gonna be hard to get a real cross-section of Skritter users on Facebook when those of us living in China can't even access it...

DaXia   November 6th, 2011 2:14a.m.

@FatDragon
VPN mate! Can't live without it in China! It's cheap, reliable, fast, safe and easy to use. I don't remember what service I used when I lived there, but I'm sure that someone here could recommend a good one.

Kikko-Man   November 6th, 2011 2:40a.m.

Wait, do you mean you don't believe that I really *am* a soy-sauce themed super hero?

DaXia   November 6th, 2011 2:48a.m.

@Allison
Yeah, what jww1066 said. It's a character that reads "da2", and its very very seldom used, so it can't be found in some dictionaries. It very abstractly translates to how a dragon looks when it flies. As far as I know it's only used in a a very cool phrase "龖之赫,霆之砉", and whats cool with it is that there is no "real" translation of it because it is so abstract. You can instead say that the phrase paints an image. The words say "The awe sight of a flying dragon, the sound as of thunder".

DaXia   November 6th, 2011 5:25a.m.

So far, there are 4 of us who has came out from the closet....no more brave people?

FatDragon   November 6th, 2011 6:39a.m.

I live quite well without a VPN in China, actually. I understand it's easy to get one and have access to stuff like Facebook and Youtube, but my opinion is that there are enough people using Skritter from China that common courtesy should be to find China-friendly alternatives when possible. Of course, that's not always possible, and maybe this thread is referring to getting people to link their real-life Facebook pages to the Skritter Facebook page, in which case there aren't really any good alternatives.

Meh, forget it. I'll just shut up about this stuff in the future.

DaXia   November 6th, 2011 6:45a.m.

Of course, everyone is different and have different needs. Personally I felt too cut of from the rest of the world without facebook and youtube. And I never really liked the Chinese substitutes like youku, tudou, qq and 校友 etc.

JakubED2   November 6th, 2011 8:48a.m.

to Daxia: Great idea ! Going to do it now I am Jakub Jacob on facebook.
I think its a brilliant idea because it would be interesting to connect with other skriter-ers, connect and talk to people with the same obsession ha

to Fat Dragon : Go to http://proxpn.com/ and download the free version. You can acces anything with that and you dont need to pay if you dont mind slow access. I used it when I was in China and it helped me stay connected with the world and get good music from youtube, read uncensored new etc.

Nicki   November 6th, 2011 9:10a.m.

Posted :)

Zeppa   November 6th, 2011 1:31p.m.

I don't use Facebook but there's a bit about me in my profile on Skritter.

aharlekyn   November 7th, 2011 2:53a.m.

Done. Add me if you like.

Catherine :)   November 8th, 2011 9:56a.m.

Done it also :)

East Asia Student   November 9th, 2011 10:54a.m.

Hai guyz. I'm English, in my third year of studying Chinese. I'm in Qingdao for the year than back to Britain for my final year. Woop.

葛修远   November 9th, 2011 10:56a.m.

Whoopsie daisy, I posted as my affiliates account. I am also East Asia Student. Confusing eh?

Dennis   November 10th, 2011 2:24p.m.

I use Facebook because I have friends there. Does anyone use Google Plus? The hangout feature is very cool and privacy is a bit easier to control.

nick   November 10th, 2011 5:07p.m.

I'm cross-posting updates on the iOS app progress to Google Plus, Facebook, and Twitter. I like Google Plus the best, although there is no Skritter page there yet, just my Skritter Users circle. (If you follow me, I will add you to it and you can read the updates there if you prefer.)

But the most conversation (outside of this forum, of course) is still happening on Facebook.

Catherine :)   November 10th, 2011 5:21p.m.

I have google+ but I hardly use it at all... It's not really taken off with anyone here except the computer scientists! Facebook's still the (terribly flawed) winner.

Nicki   November 10th, 2011 10:38p.m.

Absolutely love G+. I'm there more than facebook and I find it's excellent for interacting with native Chinese speakers. Feel free to add if you like:
