Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

I am going on holliday (out of china where I live) and will not have an internet connexion for the next 15 days as of next week
any chance there is an off line possibility

I'm not sure there is, but there is a way you can suspend your subscription so you don't pay for those couple of weeks you're away. On http://www.skritter.com/account click "go on vacation" on the bottom right.

I'd love to have an offline mode as well, I have a 20h long flight on next wednesday, Skritter would have been an awesome companion :)

The iPhone app will have an offline mode when it comes out! Unfortunately since all other forms of Skritter are entirely web-based, you're out of luck for now.
