rate new charaters are added

shinyspoons   November 8th, 2009 10:45p.m.

Where did the did the thing that allowed you to change the rate characters are added go. Mine was set to the slowest so at the moment the only way for me to quickly add a lot of characters is using the add button in the interface, but this isn't working too well. Could you add the feature back in, the quicker the better.

Thanks

It's gone now. The only way to control it is to set it to "manual" and hit the "add character" button yourself.

We thought that having the ability to turn off automatic adding and the new manual add button in the new practice page would be enough control. But we've gotten a lot of people asking us where it went; I didn't expect so many people were using it to be honest! I'll add it back for the time being at least. It should be back up by the end of the day.

Related to that, are you still going to be able to change the target retention rate? I think that option has disappeared as well?

scott   November 10th, 2009 6:52a.m.

The target retention rate is still up. It's in the language options, which you can get to from the account page. Don't think we'll be getting rid of that one!

So it is! My mistake

ChrisClark   November 12th, 2009 4:05a.m.

I used to frequently alter the rate that characters were added - it's a really useful feature. Though, to be honest, I used to like Skritter better when it was 100% review until I'd reviewed all of my characters that were due, then it was all new characters from my active queues after that.

Interesting perspective. You can still achieve that by turning off automatic adding and then using the manual add word button once your reviews are done. (Or at least you will be able to once the adding works stably; it's pretty buggy yet.) Is that too much trouble, or does that work for you?

ChrisClark   November 29th, 2009 8:19p.m.

The main problem is that it's painful to add a lot of characters in the same day. Let's say I have 0 characters to review and 10 new characters in the queue. I would expect in that case to get nothing but new characters, but instead I get 75% characters that aren't due yet, and that's pretty frustrating.
