Question about writing a mnemonic

MrUnknown   July 25th, 2014 6:42p.m.

So I am looking to start Remembering the Kanji sometime in the next few days and was wondering about writing the mnemonics. I read that's what the book is based around and I found you can go into the list for remembering the kanji and click the character to write a mnemonic for it, which I assume shows up when you are quizzed on it. My question is for that list all the characters are writing only and have the green letters " comp" next to each one. If I write a mnemonic for these and then later say a month from now study a certain word that is only that character will my mnemonic still be able to be shown or will I have to rewrite/ assign a mnemonic for the new word. In which case it would be sort of a waste of time to write all the mnemonics now and then have to rewrite some again if I forget the character.

There are character level mnemonics and word level mnemonics, so if you write one for a single character and then it's later used in a word, it would be using the word level mnemonic unless you view that single character
