Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

as a complete beginner with no chinese knowledge whatsoever & without sounding like an idiot can anyone explain the right hand side of the Skritter screen, the screen seems to be split in 2, I am trying to workout what word i am learning it seems to have a sentence with some words in brackets….confused….thankyou

It sounds like you might be talking about the example sentence for the word. The other side of the study session window besides the writing canvas shows the word, it's definition, reading, example sentence, and mnemonic.
