Light or Dark Theme

bennyboyk   June 16th, 2012 12:31p.m.

I'm sure everyone is enjoying the new app and again many congratulations to the Skritter team.

Us Skritter-ers waited along time and it is finally here. But at times it felt it was never going to come. I would often read Nick's Twitter posts, saying how well he was getting on with the graphics, and how beautiful it looks. I'd be sitting at my desk with a mountain of reviews to do working away on my worn out Wacom thinking, "Nick just get on with it and make it work!"

But I must confess, I really like the dark theme. It's cool. I get satisfaction making sparks fly with each character. I sometimes switch back to the regular theme to mix things up but then quickly switch back to the dark theme as I like it so much.

And so I'm opening the floor to you. Which theme do you prefer? Have you joined the dark side?

Dark theme since I do a decent amount of Skrittering when I wake up or just before going to bed - feels easier on the eyes in a dark room.

Light theme - I think the strokes look really scrappy in the dark theme.

Mandarinboy   June 16th, 2012 2:06p.m.

Light theme usually but dark at night.

范博涵   June 16th, 2012 3:22p.m.

I do not like the sparks in the dark theme, nor the textures and fonts in the light theme. There should be a "clean" theme, without any elements that detract from the learning experience.

Dark theme, looks really good and I like the ninja feeling of the sparks. Anyone else noticed that after a while the strokes are more "on fire" or is it just me getting more excited after a couple of minutes practicing? :)

dark theme is awesome

I like the dark theme, but I hate the sound when drawing strokes on it so I use the light theme simply to avoid the sound. If it wasn't for the stroke sound I'd use dark theme all the way - the sparks when you start getting correct chains are awesome and (before they added that SFX) were a huge motivator for me to really think before I wrote.

I'm with you kaysik. The dark theme looks incredible, but the sound is a bit close to nails on a blackboard- it sets my teeth on edge anyway.

I really like both themes, but tend to use the dark theme when in the dark as a passenger in a car or in the evenings out in the garden.

Light theme. I like how the black theme looks like but pretty much don't like the sounds either. Light theme with inverted colors at night.

goobybear   June 17th, 2012 8:35a.m.

I use the light theme. The sparks on the dark while cute gives me a headache after 5 minutes. I would prefer a plain theme and dispense with the fancy stuff like 范博涵 said.
