When I was in Japan I got used to listening to the radio on the internet. They have such beautiful pronounciation, it's so nice to listen and you learn a ton thanks to that. When I left Japan though, I'm cut off - all the sites I used now say I can't listen from outside Japan.
Does anyone know a way to listen to japanese radio over the internet? I have KeyHole TV but the sound quality is horrible. I'm also mostly interested in mainstream radios like NHK, J-Wave and other located in Tokyo - preferrably some music, but also some news and discussions on air.

Not a radio station, but if you want additional material, you'll probably find a lot of free podcasts on the iTunes store. There's a lot for Chinese at any rate.

Kansuke, try using 219.94.249.18:8080 or 202.8.209.78:8080 as a proxy server in your browser. These servers are located in Japan, so it will seem as if you are connecting from there.

Kansuke, perhaps you could try to delete all cookies related to those sites first and then try to connect through the proxy again?

You could always get a VPN account (e.g. http://strongvpn.com/japan_vpn_accounts.shtml?gclid=CISplKr_07ACFdRA4Qod9TuF2A for $15) or your own VPS (e.g. http://www.tsukaeru.net/fx/ for $25) in Japan.

www.tunein.com has most radio stations all over the world I think. I checked if I could listen to Japanese radio stations with a VPN and all of them are working, from Hong Kong to Holland to USA. Tunein.com is blocked in China but anywhere else, in the 'free world' at least, most of the radio stations they provide seem accessible.

Elwin beat me to the Tunein.com recommendation! I personally use the Tunein app on my phone (Android) more than on my laptop. It's a fantastic service, if you have the chance you should check it out and let us know what you think!

Great tip! Looks like there are 29 Beijing radio stations. Any idea which one offers the most talk radio (rather than music)? Beijing Story Station appears to be pretty good in this regard.

I haven't used tunein.com for a long while but I remember most don't change up so much between music and talking, there should also be some 故事 stuff, usually a man talking slowly.
