OT:dictionary apps for Android

west316   June 20th, 2012 5:24p.m.

I just purchased a new Droid phone and am looking for a good dictionary app for it. Anyone have any suggestions?

If anyone has any suggestions for a good Spanish Dictionary app, I am looking for one of those as well.

Pleco, there's nothing even close to as good.

And yes, the paid addons are worth it. :P

@戴德辉
Seconded! I don't use any of the paid addons and it's still one of my most used apps.

Hanping Pro is really good too.

Pleco and Hanping are the only ones worth mentioning. I prefer Pleco.

Most of the others seem like the developers trying to make a quick buck of the CC-CEDICT.

If you want a good Android laugh, download "Monkey Write", which Samsung awarded a $100,000 prize in it's S-Pen contest. Skritter's only about 10000 times better.

Without the ability to write in the characters, I don't know how much I would like Pleco. With that said, at the moment the writing add on is free as part of a promotion. With that add on it seems pretty good.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.

It depends on your phone and version of the OS but it's highly likely that it has native handwriting input. My friend's htc phone did, and the iPhone does. Look around in settings for a way to install more input languages?

@west316 the only Spanish dictionary I've used on Android is Wordreference, which only works if you're online. That said, it's my dictionary of choice, not so much for the dictionary as for the forum discussions, which usually show pts-level erudition.
