Beta site dictionary down?

clairehansell86   June 30th, 2012 7:50a.m.

The Skritter dictionary doesn't seem to be recognizing any words at all in the beta site (.com, haven't tried .cn) - neither using the 'Quick Add' function, nor going to 'edit section' and adding words to lists that way. I did wonder if I was trying to add really obscure words, but it's happening for all words, even words like 妈妈. It's returning 'No results found for 妈妈 - Search again/add to dictionary'
Not a problem in the normal site at all though.
Is it just me, or is anyone else having this problem? I'm using Chrome - the latest version as far as I know.

That's my fault. Now that iOS is out and no longer taking all my attention, I'm going back through the server code and doing a whole bunch of reorganization, test-adding, and optimization, so that this core piece of Skritter is more solid, stable, and efficient, and faster as well. And afterward we'll be in a much better position to add more features and tackle remaining bugs. Right now it's kind of so tangled that changing one thing tends to break three other things, and there are a number of App Engine features we haven't gotten a chance to fully take advantage of yet, so it's high time for some reorganizing.

Since so much change is going on in the code though, beta will be kind of unstable for the time being, for both iOS beta testers and site beta testers. Please continue to use it though if you can, and keep me informed of any bugs you see; I'm fixing them as quickly as I see them, and that one you mention is already fixed and uploaded. Thanks!

Okey dokey, it is indeed working again now. Cheers for fixing it so quickly (and on a weekend too!) - back to beta I go!
