Studied Words Coming Up as "New..."

马洲屹   July 18th, 2012 1:17p.m.

Is anyone having the same bug as me? I am finding that words that I have already studied (and most of the time got right) are coming up as "New Tone", "New Reading" etc.

I am hoping that is just a superficial bug and does not reflect the statistics for those words which are on the Skritter servers.

I have emailed the guys at Skritter about it, but, as of now, have not got a response.

joeymac1981, is it the first time that you're doing the tone, reading, etc. prompts for those words, whereas previously you'd done a different part (like the writing)? It should show up as "new" for each part the first that you do it.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the post. No for most of these words that I am talking about they are words that I have reviewed many time. For instance, "天桥" had been reviewed many times. In fact, I started reviewing "天桥" in my first batch of skritter words back when your app was first launched.

It has something that has just been happening recently.

To give a context of my problem. I usually do my skrittering between two devices: my iPad and iPhone. I have found that up to now this has not caused any problems because the

I have also found that the personal definitions that I have updated for some words have not updated. What I usually do is change the Skritter definition to the one which is from ABC Dictionary on Pleco. On the whole, all my personal definitions are there when I next review the word, but I have found that some are not...which makes me think as you eluded to in an email to me earlier that it is a sync problem.

If there is any further information that you need please let me know!

Even with these small teething bugs this is quite simply a brilliant app that has given me renewed hope that I can achieve reading "fluency" in this language!!

Cheers,
Joe

I'm looking at the study history for 天桥, and it looks like you studied the writing, tone, and definition items first, but didn't study the reading item for 天桥 for the first time until two days ago. That's what Skritter thinks, anyway. So if you actually reviewed the reading item before, whichever client you're using doesn't know this. If you check the account status checker in your iOS app account settings, does it show any mismatches?

Can you give some examples of words where the custom definition isn't getting through to the other device? We can check that out.
