adding to definitions in a custom list

EJ   September 25th, 2012 3:48a.m.

Hi
I am currently creating a custom list for my textbook.
I have been unable to save additions to the definitions for several days now. I have been trying to do this by entering words in the list, saving the list and then going back in to editit. I am able to add to the definition while editing, but the addition is not being saved.
Is my method wrong or is there a problem with adding to definitions?

Editing a list and editing words are two separate processes. To edit a word's definition, click on it (when you're not editing a list) to bring up the popup, then click the pencil next to the definition. You can also click on the definition while you're studying to edit it on the site, or if you're on the app, tap the upper area then tap the pencil while studying.

Hi Scott
Sorry I do not follow.

I want to do quite a bit of editing of the words in my list. I do not want to have to wait until I study the word as I want to make the list available to anyone who wants to use it. I do not want to make its accuracy dependent on my rate of study.

If I open the list in the "Vocabulary List" section there is a pencil beside each section. This, however, takes me to editing the list. I am able to pull up a popup which allows me to enter changes but these are not saved. There is no pencil to click on in the box. If I go into the list without clicking on the pencil beside each section clicking on the word has no effect; no popup appears.

I have also tried opening My Words and finding the word by entering it in the search box. That does find the word but I cannot alter it. Clicking on it again has not effect.
Could you please spell out in detail exactly which section I am in before try to add to definitions?
I am no doubt going to feel pretty stupid when you do, but I really can't work it out.

It should just require a click on the word (it is blue, indicating that you can click on it) to open the word popup. That has an edit pencil next to the definition. If the word popup isn't opening, then perhaps there is some sort of JavaScript error? What browser are you using, and does it do it both on the live site and beta?

Thanks Nick (and Scott)
I now have it working.
