Looks like the Great Firewall or something like it is preventing you from completely loading www.skritter.com because it is hosted on Google App Engine, which is periodically blocked. Try instead our mirror:

legacy.skritter.cn

This might also be caused by an internet filter, such as SafeEyes. If you have such a filter installed, try adding appspot.com to the list of allowed domains.

I realize this is stupid, but how do you use Skritter?

Besides the FAQS to specific questions, is there anyplace on the website that tells you how it works? Is there anyplace where it teaches stroke order rules?

I realize there is probably a tutorial. Where is it?

Are you perhaps asking for the demo as seen here?
http://www.skritter.com/demo

It teaches the commonly used buttons in Skritter, as well as rudimentary stroke order rules. And the demo mentions this, but if you ever need to see stroke order in action, hold down the "show" button.

just in case you are not asking about the mechanics of it, usually people just go to chinese classes or listen to chinesepod lessons and then use skritter to learn and practice the characters from those lessons.

And because there is an iPhone app, you can practice on the train, the bus, etc while going to school or to work.

If using the PC at home, a Wacom tablet is really useful.
