No sound, bug?

papierjaune   February 19th, 2013 3:41a.m.

I've had no sound since yesterday. The sound everywhere else on ios (iphone5)works. Volume is on max yet still no sound either manually or on auto pronounce... I've restarted phone and Skritter several times. I do have sound when a headphone is plugged in(?!) anybody having this problem?

I put in something for this in Skritter where if you twiddle the in-app sound settings, it tries to reset itself, but I assume you've already done this. If it were an iPad, I'd guess you might have selectively muted Skritter, but as far as I know that doesn't happen on iPhones. Is it possible that there is dirt or dust in the headphone jack? Another thing to try might be upgrading to iOS 6 in case it's either a bug in iOS 5 or some weird state iOS or the app has gotten itself into.

Have you turned off your phone ringer by any chance through the button on the outside of the phone, next to the volume controls? I had this problem. Other apps continue to have sound when this happens, though Skritter does not without the headphones.

No idea what was going on, but sound is back

Actually I have had a similar problem a few times as well. It would kill the sound for everything on my iPad until I reset it. I haven't noticed it doing that lately, but I'll try and see if I can make it happen again and give some more details

Seant018, if the sound is killed for everything on your iPad, you might have gotten hit by the selective muting: http://www.skritter.com/forum/topic?id=184426833

When the left button for ringer is activated, skritter does not provide sound to the internal speaker but to the headphones only.(other apps don't have this issue and still deliver sound to the speaker)
If you push back the button off, it works fine :)
