Windows RT 8.1

alexandermuir   October 18th, 2013 7:52a.m.

I know I'm probably the only one using Windows RT 8.1, but the site doesn't appear to be working properly and I'm hoping someone knows what's going on. I am unable to interact with the character trainer using my finger- I must use a mouse. When using a mouse, however, the characters are drawn about one inch up and left from where the cursor actually is. Any ideas, or does anyone at least know what's going on?

Try pressing F12 while in internet explorer and changing compatibility to "Internet Explorer 9" - might solve any skritter/IE11 issue.

No... changing it breaks the flash completely- doesn't even load. I'll try contacting Microsoft support I guess

You're right, skritter and IE11 don't play together well - just tried on Win 8.1 (not RT) touchscreen, and had same problems.

If its your only device and you are desperate, below settings will work:

F12 - Emulation tab

Document mode: 10
Browser Profile: Windows Phone
User agent string: IE10 - Windows Phone

Change the Resolution tab to something more appropriate, as is defaulted to 4.5" screen emulation.

Open to prettier solutions of course ... good luck with Microsoft, I find Nick and team more responsive than Bill and team ;)

Thanks, that does seem to work. I'll see what else I can find out.

have you tried android mode?

android mode works for the Metro-style IE, thanks. I prefer the desktop IE solution from ricksh as the resolution is adjustable, for anyone else having this same issue. I haven't really had time to contact Microsoft about this yet, but I will post any responses I get here.

I sometimes use my Surface RT 8.1 for skritter. Check this thread where skritter provided a workaround. I just verified it still works:

The trick is to convince the skritter app that you're an android device then the touch interface works as expected.
