[Non-Skritter] Youdao Dictionary and pinyin input

glacchia   October 10th, 2010 12:47p.m.

Hi!

I read tunghiem2010 message about this dictionary. I tried it and found it extremely useful.

Anyone knows if also it has input capabilities (拼音收入)? I took a look at the many options but could not get it.

Thank you in advance and apologies for the OT,

Gilberto

Why should a website, here http://dict.youdao.com, have its own 拼音输入法? Sorry if I misunderstand you, but I always associate 拼音输入 with the input software that is provided by 搜狗, Google etc.

The Google dictionary also recognizes the direct input of 拼音: http://www.google.com/dictionary?langpair=zh-CN|en, similarly of course nciku etc.

Hi 穆兒!

Thank you for your answer. I was referring to YouDao software, not the website, that you may download and install. http://cidian.youdao.com/

Anyway I read some more about it and think it does not do 拼音输入。

Hi Glacchia,

I am glad you like youdao. It's very useful, right? Especially when you want authentic phrases, because it searches websites for close matches, perfect for writing essays.

You don't need to type Chinese in it, it's extremely powerful. Just type pinyin without spaces. For kicks, you can try part pinyin, part Chinese characters, and it would still be able to recognize.

If you were referring to other functions, I am sorry!

Hi tunghiem2010!

What I meant is not pinyin input INTO Youdao, but in other applications, something like Google pinyin or other softwares. Anyway looking Youdao more closely I do not think it has such a function.

Anyway it is a really powerful software, thank you for sharing!
