Android App, full screen

fangshi   November 25th, 2014 7:07p.m.

Sorry, I haven't used the app in a while and there are so many updates so its difficult to keep up to date.

The current version seems really nice, good layout and everything is working, only thing I dont like, is that the upper box, which shows the boxes and pinyin is a little to small and I have to scroll in it, which is not very handy.

Is there some way to either use the app in full screen mode (because the chrome search bar takes some space, but scrolling down like on normal websites DOES NOT WORK in the app) or to make the upper field a little bigger, I want to see everything without having to scroll.

I also would like to know: Is it possible to add new words in the app now or is it still not working?

Could you make a screenshot? I don't really get what you mean by the chrome search bar. Are you using skritter within the browser via html5.skritter.com? If so, there is no need to do so anymore, you can find a "real" app in the playstore now. This way it will automatically be in full screen (except the phones status bar still showing).

Adding words from your lists to your studies is possible (but only manually with the plus button at the top). If you mean adding words to lists in the first place, that's not possible.

@fangshi, it does sound to me like you're using the it via the browser on an Android device. They actual apps can be downloaded from Google Play here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Skritter

As AndyCCAA mentioned you can add items, but you'll need to press the + button manually from the study page.

You can add words to list sections from within the Android app now, but it's a little quirky. You can do it by navigating to a list section and then clicking the add vocabs button in the top-right corner. From there you you can type in a character (or characters with spaces) and click to add them to the section.

If you don't have Google Play the apk files are always stored here:

Ahaha, all right! I still use the "old" Android App which was opened in the browser! So there is an actual App now, awesome. So I was using like a Beta or what? ^^

I will report back after my download finished.

Thanks for the help, guys!

Fantastic the App is really smooth and fast now, I really, really like it.

I only have a few issues right now:

1. Why do I always have to tap twice on "So So" "Correct" to get to the next character? It would be faster if I only have to tap once.

2. Actually I cant remember how it was with the old PC version, I havent really used Skritter for quiet some time, but why do I rate my recognition after every charakter instead of after a complete word / "flashcard"?

I mean for example I just had 兼容, now I should rate if I remembered 兼容 not if I remembered 兼 and 容, right?! How does the program judge if I remembered the card, when I rate one of the character Soso and the second Easy?

Glad you're liking it! You can expect a lot of updates to happen over the next few months as thing get cleaned up more and more. I'll briefly touch on each of the issues you've brought up below.

1.) This is something that will likely be changed, but the initial idea was to allow people to confirm grading changes.

2.) For example a 你好 writing prompt would update the items for 你, 好 and 你好. So you need to grade each character so it know whether you got them write and then it generates a grading for the entire word based those scores. If you get one wrong and one right it'll mark the word as wrong. If you get Two right and one wrong it'll mark the word as so-so.
