Stroke recognition

I have noticed the stroke recognition algorithm is way too forgiving (on all platforms, but mobile ones are much worse in this respect). Would be nice to be able to adjust that in settings. Also, would like to see a mode in which one would need to finish drawing the complete character (without any clues and feedback), then indicate that he (thinks) he is done, and only then see the results. In case other users agree, we could post a feature request.

You can enable raw strokes (or squigs if you will) in order to see your own handwriting until the character is complete, like you mentioned. (The option is available for each app). It will still give you clues with enough failed attempts though, and complete the character prompt when it's strokes have been finished. Another thing you could do if you haven't already, is to turn the stroke order strictness to the maximum setting.

Something you could try out is writing words/characters on a sheet of actual scratch paper, and then tap to reveal on Skritter once you are done writing, grading accordingly. That way you could utilize the SRS and also accomplish exactly what you describe.

Thanks Jeremy,

I have enabled raw squigs, but I would actually like to be able to disable Skritter's drawing feedback until I have done writing, at least when I am practicing characters that look similar, or have super-set/sub-set relationship. Using paper and pen works of course, but is quite impractical on the go.

I've thought about the "click to finish a character" thing particularly for characters I confuse like 尊 and 遵, but I think clicking "done" a hundred times for the few cases where I make this kind of mistake wouldn't be worth the time. As it is if i thought I was done with a character but there was more to write, or skritter thought I got it right but I thought there was more I mark it wrong. In the latter case I need to go back to the previous character and mark it wrong, at least on iOS. A little annoying but acceptable. If i know a character is one I confuse I try to consciously make a decision whether I am done or not at the critical point.

What I would like would be a way to mark the previous character right or wrong without skipping back to it. The way I see this working on iOS is the tick mark or cross in the bottom left would fade out rather than disappearing, so it could still be grabbed and changed for a short while. This shouldn't be an issue as characters don't generally start in the bottom left so it could be disabled once you start writing the next character.
