Hidden pinyin, no audio for character drawing

Hemoride   November 2nd, 2014 5:03a.m.

Hi,

I just noticed that, when I use "hide pinyin" option, it also deactivates the audio

I see that this makes sense when its asking for specific character tones, but it definitly doesnt make sense to disable audio when its asking me to draw a character/word (as its just leaving me with a blank screen without any question and I do have to hit the speaker button to know what I have to do)

is there a way to enable audio for these cases without showing pinyin (as clicking the speaker anytime is a bit annoying, specially when using wacom writing tablet) ?

If you have both hidden reading and hidden definition mode on, on the web version, it should be only hiding both if there is no example sentence to prompt you with (prompting with the cloze-deleted example sentence is an experiment we were trying here). Is that the behavior you describe?

You could try turning off one of those options, or we could reconsider whether anyone is using the example-sentence prompting feature.

I think its another behavior,

The problem I mean is very simple and actually surprised me that its existing:

When I Hide Pinyin AND Definition (as I dont want to see pinyin or english to give me hints) in Character drawing mode - its leaving me with a complete blank sheet - waiting for me to draw a character BUT I do not know what character I have to write, because it was never asking me/saying something - I only know it, when I am hitting the speaker button (that way I do not see pinyin, do not see english, I just do hear the character I have to draw - which is good, but needs the click on speaker).

So basically it just doesnt play the audio file automatically when pinyin and definition are hided - which makes character writing annoying as I have to hit anytime the speaker first to know what I have to do

Hmm, it's weird that that would happen when there's no sentence showing. I'll check it out. You can also press "a" to hear the audio if you don't want to click the audio button.
