[OT] Flash cards in the cloud / alternative to Anki?

Foo Choo Choon   December 15th, 2010 3:57p.m.

I currently usually use computers that do not allow me to install software. I would, however, like to use a flashcard software with good progress graphing, similar to Anki (and I can't wait for the day Skritter uses its code base to create a more general flashcard service).

I'd mostly use the software for example sentences/ LaTeX support would be nice for other purposes, but I don't expect this to be offered ... . Smart.fm didn't quite convince me, and Anki's online edition doesn't get a lot of updates (which is a bad sign for a cloud service).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is it that Skritter doesn't do for you regarding flashcards ?

I'd like to study example sentences in flashcard mode, i.e. given: English sentence --> required: Chinese translation. Skritter does not offer that functionality yet.

Use Skritter progress tab? I really like the progress charts for http://www.readthekanji.com/

Anki already does what you want. There's a desktop version, a ipod/iphone version, and a completely online version. You can also sync between the lot.
