List of medical terms/expressions

glacchia   February 5th, 2011 2:35a.m.

Hi All!

I work as a family physician and I have many Chinese patients.

On the Vocab Lists I looked for a list of basic medical terms and expressions but I found none.

Someone has such a list and could share it?

I need a list of basic terms (diseases, anatomy, usual medical expressions) not a list of Chinese Traditional Medicine terms.

If somebody could share some material I could build a Skritter list to share with other users.

谢谢

Gilberto

You might find some useful word lists on websites like 百度文库.

(把丑话说在前头: Warning: sources usually not authoritative)

e.g. try http://wenku.baidu.com/search?word=%D2%BD%D1%A7%D3%A2%CE%C4&lm=0&od=0

--> Word list: http://wenku.baidu.com/view/baa255a20029bd64783e2c75.html

You can download it as a Word file if you have a 百度 account.

Hi K书窝!

Thank you very much for your advice. I downloaded the 百度 list and made a subject-organized list of medical terms.

I shared my list here:

http://www.skritter.com/vocab/list?list=agVza3JpdHIWCxINVm9jYWJMaXN0SW5mbxi62r0iDA

Any suggestion to integrate it is welcome, above all with popular medical terms. I works as a physician, so I added many technical terms, but I also would like to learn the common terminology used by patients (e.g. when they go 看病).

Kind regards,

Gilberto

Great list, Gilberto! Thanks for sharing that. Scott's working soon on being able to make edits to published lists, so when that's ready, you'll be able to continue updating it when you find new medical words to put in there.

Thanks for this. I was surprised that nobody had done this before. I may be able to make a short list of common terms relating to health and sickness by combing through some of the related Chinese Pod lessons.

podster   February 13th, 2011 10:52p.m.

Gilberto,
I found seven lessons related to doctor / hospital / health on Chinese Pod, but I don't have time to go through them now to make a comprehensive list. If you are not already a subscriber, I strongly suggest that you consider it. Since ChinesePod is partnered with Skritter, you would be able to draw from vocabulary lists in Skritter that are taken directly from Chinese Pod.
The lessons I found were:
Going to the Doctor
Health Check
Pre Marital Health Testing
Saved by the Gong: Health Class
Hospital visits and prescription medication
Visiting a friend at the hospital
Visiting the Hospital with a fever.

Hi podster!
Thank you very much for the suggestion!

Actually I already used ChinesePod to collect some words, but I missed some of the lessons you suggest.

Now I have many words to add to my list in the next days.

Nick, if I update the list I am studying, the new words will be visible in the shared list?

For those interested in medical terms I suggest this Eng-Chi online medical dictionary:

Dr Dict 英汉医学词典
http://www.drdict.com/

If you know similar resources, please share!

Best,
Gilberto

Gilberto, since the list is published, it's not currently editable. We haven't yet completed the feature to let published lists be editable.

I'll unpublish it for you so that you can edit it. You can then publish it again when you've added these words.

Thank you Nick!

I just found the following website: a very useful resource for everyone interested in medical terminology.
