Concerning the "Tuttle - Learning Chines characters" lists

Kherith   January 16th, 2014 10:17a.m.

Hello,

I am currently practicing the Tuttle - Learning Chinese Characters vocabulary lists on Skritter but there is something wrong: the book contains 800 characters and the vocabulary lists contain more than 2000. Do you know why it does not correspond ?

Thank you.

The official list includes the supplemental old HSK vocabulary (words made up of more than one character) that are introduced in each chapter.

If you don't want the words, you could always remix the list and remove the 2+ character words.

Is there a way to fix this straight away or do I have to delete them one by one ?

I searched for "Tuttle" in the User-made lists and found these two which seem closer to what you want:

Thank you very much :)

Would you all prefer that the default lists not include the supplemental vocabulary?

Yeah, I think it is more useful for the list list not to include the supplementary. Or maybe spin off the supplementary vocabulary into it's own list.

I continued using the supplementary list, but today I received my book "Tuttle - Learning Chinese characters" and I think it is actually more efficient to work only with it, because the supplementary vocabulary is, as it is called, supplementary vocabulary, and not about how to write characters. Thus I will learn this supplementary stuff whenever I want to improve my vocab, but I do not necessary need Skritter for that.

However I see in the book for instance 143a 阿 which is used to write 143 啊. The first component is not shown in the contents list of the book but should be in the list on Skritter cause it is useful. :)
