Nosey question of the day

Hey fellas!

I've been loving the site ever since I found it back in the day from one of your posts on chinese-forums.com. I hadn't even been sure if I was gonna learn characters any time soon and now I am more then 700 in thanks to you guys.

Obviously, I'm really cheering for you guys (for both selfish and un-selfish reasons), and I'm curious how it is looking so far now that you have launched? Every once in awhile I'll try to guess how many users you have from the poll numbers and try to guess how many you'll need to keep this rolling.

I'm sure you don't want to get into the details, but I am curious what the general picture is looking like for you all!

Yeah, maul those 汉子!

Yup, can't go into details, but things are looking good. Definitely going to keep rolling.

After we fix up a few more features for you all, we're going to really starting marketing this thing, in part by building tie-ins to other services and platforms, and in part by expanding the community aspect of Skritter (adding friends, etc.). So that's when those poll vote numbers will really go up.

But don't wait to tell your friends, 'cause otherwise by the time they get around to checking it out, you'll already know way more Chinese than them and you'll have to get new friends.

Whenever I learn 100 new characters, I dump all the friends I made during the previous 100. It keeps my social life fresh.

I'm sure you don't want to provide user counts, but is there any type of aggregate data you could release, such as the total number of characters learned in a week? This would serve as a way of promoting the vast amount of learning that is going on at Skritter.

Because of a change in the way practice histories need to be stored for Japanese and for pinyin and definition practice, this kind of data will become much more accessible shortly. Scott will then work on some leaderboard powers for the site. That's gonna be mad cool.
