Banking Anti-Fraud Numerals

I hope this thing works ... I just plugged my fingers in my hears, stood back, and hit "Publish" on my first list. Anyone have any comments?

Looks good, but could you tell me what those anti-fraud numerals are exactly? The name gives some idea into what direction it goes, but was exactly are they used for?

Baifameizhong, I had no idea either. According to the mutoidman's own definition:

"Numerals used for banking. The normal characters used for writing numerals are geometrically simple, so simply using those numerals cannot prevent forgeries in the same way spelling numbers out in English would. These numerals are used in their places."

What a neat idea. I like it.

When you fill out a form in a bank (and any transaction will require tons of them) you can't just write things like 一二三 because it's so easy for somebody to come along later and add a few strokes here and there and totally change what you wrote. So instead of those, you write these. Or, as I generally do, get the nice lady at the bank counter to write them for me...guess if you study this list you can handle all that yourself! But actually many of my adult Chinese friends can't write these characters without looking them up anyway.

Haha...great to know. I might just have to learn them and show it off when my wife can't write them:)

Actually my fiancee doesn't know them either ... though it's understandable because she doesn't exactly write many Chinese checks here in the States :P
