It's apparently Google's fault:

The Python runtime was affected by a bad push to production this morning. Service has been restored to some lingering applications now and we are working on a post-mortem describing what went wrong.

Hi guys. This was my fault. I'm sorry. I made a totally stupid little typo, tested what must have been the wrong version of the code, put it online, and went to sleep. Our error emails didn't fire on this one for some reason.

I'll be crediting all of your accounts for two days, and I'll make sure that our notification systems don't fail on this class of error in the future.

Sorry guys!

Randy   March 20th, 2011 10:10a.m.

As someone who has used Skritter (albeit sporadically) since the beta test stage, I've been amazed at how smoothly the site development has gone with so many features added in a reatively short time. While these glitches may be inconvenient in the short term, I appreciate the Skritter team's efforts and open communications in the bigger picture. It certainly has been a valuable tool for me.

Tove   March 20th, 2011 11:41a.m.

I agree with Randy. :-)
