"You've Got Good Handwriting"

YueMeigui   April 2nd, 2011 5:02a.m.

Yesterday my friends Nicki (a fellow Skritter) and Erik and I went to a strangeish art-type exhibit at the Haikou Convention Center.

While we were there we got interviewed by two reporters from Xinhua.

I wasn't even carrying any of my old business cards on me so I had to write my name, company name, etc... in the reporter's notebook.

All of these details (as well as most other things I might have to write and rewrite on forms) are in my Skritter word list and they complimented me on my excellent handwriting.

yes I also got compliments on my handwriting, although sometimes I don't know how sincerely/strictly they judge...Skritter certainly helps, sometimes my raw squigs really fit the characters! Not as pretty of course, but the proportions and arrangement.

Skritter may help, but have you seen most Chinese handwriting? To the untrained eye it is totally illegible! The situation is probably like looking at the handwriting of someone who has learned English as a second language - almost always waaaaay better than my own chicken scratch.

I can never read Chinese people's handwriting. Here are some samples. I don't know whether they write sloppily or maybe I'm just not used to it, but I find the samples in the "Cursive Style" column completely unreadable.

I think it's just written fast, therefore sloppily...my handwriting looks better than their standard style, I woud say :D

@jww1066 Interesting! At first glance, the males seems to have neater 'printing' and the females more legible 'cursive', overall.
