created incorrect custom word - delete from database?

蓓蕾   July 23rd, 2009 1:27a.m.

While creating a custom list, I also created a custom vocabulary word in the add words field. Unfortunately I got some of the details wrong. Specifically, I misspelled the English name of a somewhat obscure fruit.

However, if I try to add the character again it simply pulls the faulty definition from the database instead of allowing me to create a new version. Is there any way to remove the faulty word and replace it with a corrected version?

Not directly. We haven't built a system to allow users to edit words they have added. For now, just send us a message letting us know what word it was and what the correct pinyin and definition are and we'll fix it. We also gradually go through words that are added to our system and fix them ourselves, but we'll skip ahead to make corrections if they are pointed out to us.

Ok. The word was 紅毛丹,hong2mao2dan1. The pinyin is correct, but the English spelling should be rambutan, not rumbutan.

In the future I'll just have to be more careful when I add new words.

I speak both Chinese and English, but I do not know either 紅毛丹 or rumbutan, until I look it up in Wikipedia....

Yeah, I've rambutan'd the rumbutan.

Oh, thank you for that word! I didn't know it in English or Chinese but I live in Hainan so they are everywhere!

Hi, borrowing this thread to correct another word (just added by me...)
另一個, I erroneously put the pinyin at ling4yi1ge4, it should of course be ling4yi2ge4...
