Group Lists

HappyBlue 善卿   April 20th, 2011 5:41p.m.

I am maintaining a word list for a group of us that are all studying together and I'm having trouble adding new words and lists.

I have added a list with several sub-lists and I can't edit that list any longer, even though the list is classed as 'not published'. I then created a new list and created one sub-list which I then made available to the group. I now can't add a second sub-list and even if I remove this list from the group. Trying to clean this up, I then find that I can't even delete that list, having checked a couple of times that it is definitely not published to the group!

I am fairly sure (not 100%!) that I was able to edit a list that was published to a group not too long ago - has this recently changed?

What I would like to do is to be able to make the list available to the group and then add a new sub-list on a weekly basis. Is this possible or are group lists now treated the same as published lists?

Any help gratefully received as I feel I'm going mad looking for buttons that aren't there!

Go ahead and make the changes and publish the new list if you haven't. Shoot a message to the Skritter guys, they'll delete the old list for you.

As far as I know, there are plans to rework the published lists so you can edit them. All we can do is wait and cheer them on.

I can understand this with a published list, but this list isn't published, it is just shared with a group and then "un-shared".
Once it is un-shared, shouldn't I be able to edit / delete the list?

Sounds like you've found some feature that I don't know about. I don't see an option to share with a group. Then again, I have a personal account, perhaps you have a group account?

Either way, this one is above me. Good luck!

Ah, I think I've got it figured out. Going to upload a fix so this doesn't happen again. In the meantime, your list is set back to editable, so you can go ahead and change it for your group.

@Thomas: yeah, groups are a feature we only really tell schools about, so teachers can assign lists to students and have access to their progress. Perhaps in the future we'll make groups for non-school Skritterers, as another possible community feature.

Right on! It'd be really cool to have public and private Skritter study groups to join, maybe a message board to encourage or congratulate each other on reaching a goal or getting a badge?

Love it.

@Scott: Thanks as always for fixing any issues quickly :) I'm glad that I'm not going mad and I didn't imagine it before!

Byzanti   April 24th, 2011 1:49p.m.

Holly, it's at the the top right of the screen. Currently it will say 'lang: en-zh" or something. Click that and change it to whichever language you need.

(Although it would seem you're not logged in anyway?)
